CALL FOR ART...
GRAPHIC: The Counter Culture Of Cartoons, Comics & Graphic Novels
CALL FOR ART for an upcoming show entitled “GRAPHIC - The Counter Culture of Cartoons, Comics and Graphic Novels" in Northeastern Ohio. Presented by the Artists Archives of the Western Reserve, this is a singular and unprecedented opportunity to show the comics and comics-related artwork of this area to a wider audience in an esteemed and spacious gallery. It is being curated by Mindy Tousley, Executive Director of AAWR, and Gary and Laura Dumm. The show will include Cleveland comics artists from Siegel and Shuster to the present, so we’re looking forward to your possible participation.
“GRAPHIC” will run from July 19 to September 8, 2018, which is concurrent with Cleveland’s first FRONT Art Triennial, An American City (taking place July 14 to September 30, 2018) of which you may (or may not) already be aware. It’s going to be a big, ambitious, art-filled summer in Cleveland, and we’d like you and your art be a part of it.
To that end we’d like you to submit up to 5 pieces of what you feel is your best/most representative work in the form of JPG files to us at email@example.com with “comic show” in the subject area. Also, please include as part of the email or attached as a separate file: your name, address, telephone number and either a brief bio, artist statement or vita as part of your submission.
We’d like to be as inclusive as possible with approximately 80 pieces (depending on sizes of originals) in the show. We are interested in both established and new artists.
Work selected for the show which is intended for the wall, will need to be suitably matted and framed (neutral mats and frames only) and ready for hanging. The gallery takes 40%. We Would also like to include 3-D work and books which will be displayed on pedestals or racks. If you have submissions of both the original artworks and the final book form please submit images of both. There will be opportunities to sell comics and graphic novels during the show.
